Liz Woolley is a freelance local historian specialising in aspects of the history of Oxford and Oxfordshire. She is particularly interested in the history of the city’s “town” – as opposed to “gown” – and in the everyday lives of rural people across the county, chiefly during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. An experienced speaker, broadcaster, guide, tutor, researcher and writer, she is keen to help individuals and groups to enjoy finding out about the history of their local area. In this blog post, Liz shares her rich expertise and experiences in pursuing community history research: including offering her top tips for anyone thinking of embarking on a project themselves.
